This iconic Rochester cookbook has been a cherished guide for at-home cooks in the Rochester area for decades. In its introduction, the editors write, “The Genesee Valley yields a rich harvest of produce. Perhaps most well known is the upstate apple in its many varieties. In this book, in addition to all types of cookery, you will find many recipes which feature the apple to its fullest potential.”
The binder format allows you to add your own notes and favorite recipes to the book. Sales of the cookbook have allowed its creator, the Junior League of Rochester, to carry out its mission of helping local girls and women.
Note: The cookbook is presented in its original format, so some of the language is a bit dated (such as references to cooking for husbands, etc.). However, the recipes have definitely stood the test of time, and the book includes a statement by the Junior League, acknowledging both its missteps and its intention to be an equitable, inclusive and diverse organization.
